From Bandaranaayke Airport north of Colombo the highway bus (bus fares are ridiculously cheep judged by European standards, (around 6 €) will take you to Matara in 4 hours, it’s another 10 minutes in a three-wheeler tuc tuc to the temple.

The most comfortable solution is of course a taxi from outside the airport right up to the temple for around 60 €, price open to negotiations, never accept the first offer!
